Local Business Owner Stuart Amoriell Announces Campaign for Congress

North Elba, NY — 12/3/2025 — Today, Lake Placid restaurant owner Stuart Amoriell officially announced his campaign for the United States House of Representatives for New York’s 21st District.

Standing in the bed of his pickup truck at John Brown Farm in North Elba, New York, Amoriell stated “What John Brown told his accusers that day in Virginia, he says to all of us here today with the enduring voice of history—that the plight of the dispossessed, the fear of those forgotten by the rule of law, of those betrayed by our failure to uphold American ideals—he tells us that their shackles are our shackles and that their fight for freedom and justice must be our fight as well.”

Amoriell outlined a campaign centered on several core priorities:

  • Strengthening the Local Economy: Expanding broadband and cellular access, supporting small businesses, investing in energy and infrastructure, building a sustainable workforce in our communities, tackling the affordable housing crisis and developing new trade sectors that create good-paying jobs.

  • Protection of Seniors: Ensuring access to affordable and reliable healthcare, economic security and that no seniors suffer from isolation due to lack of transportation or proper housing. Amoriell stated, “Seniors in our communities built the foundation we stand on today and now it is our turn and our obligation to ensure they can age with dignity, security and comfort.”

  • Education: Ensuring long-term economic prosperity through a commitment to ensuring that future generations have access to the best education available, supporting teachers by providing career development programs and better pay and supporting programs such as Title 1, Head Start and Early Head Start to ensure no child is locked out of the American Dream.

  • Conservation: Investing in renewable energy, protecting our waterways, strengthening protections for our wilderness, reducing emissions and pollution by incentivizing green energy and promoting sustainable and local agriculture.

  • Healthcare: Reducing the issues that face many in Northern New York, including higher healthcare costs, extended travel times to reach care, difficulty in finding specialists and providers who accept new patients, and challenges in scheduling timely appointments.  Amoriell expressed support for renewing ACA subsidies, providing incentives to clinics, hospitals and providers to ensure their continued viability in New York’s rural communities.

  • Protecting American Ideals: Championing justice, opportunity, and equality, values, stating “The source of our greatness is those American ideals that have for generations inspired and served as an example to all those seeking freedom and justice at home and around the world.”

Amoriell emphasized a message of unity and common purpose. “We must cease viewing those with whom we disagree as the enemy, assigning them labels like fascist, socialist, racist, unintelligent, lazy, un-American or traitor. Nicknames and name-calling as a way of belittling and demeaning our political opponents is beneath us, and our Nation’s promise to greatness demands better from all of us.”

The campaign will launch an extensive tour across the district, holding town halls and community meetings to ensure that residents’ voices shape the policies Amoriell brings to Congress.

Stuart Amoriell has been a resident of Lake Placid, New York for ten years and is the owner of The Pickled Pig restaurant.  While Amoriell grew up in the mid-Atlantic, his family is originally from the village of Tupper Lake, New York.
